Reward-Based Training
Dogs understand best what you want them to do when you
reward them for their good behavior.  If you teach your dog
what you want, rather than punish him for what you don't want,
you build a relationship of mutual respect and lifelong trust.

Agility Education
Learning to play the game of agility is one of the best ways to
build a great relationship with your dog.   I teach classes at
Paw Power Blues Dog Training Club in Cedar Lake and,
during the summer, at the Canine Country Club in Valpo.

Small breed and adolescent problems
Small breeds and adolescent dogs are a particular specialty
of mine because they are often the most misunderstood
canines.  With small breeds, owners expect too little.  With
adolescent dogs, owners expect too much.

.
Private lessons versus group instruction
If you have a sensitive or reactive dog, private instruction in
your home can be much more successful than attempting to
train in a busy group situation full of distractions.  Dogs that
are excited and stressed will not learn.
